    Antonio Citterio

    Antonio Citterio, born in Meda in 1950, is one of the most influential designers and architects on the international scene. After opening his own design studio in 1972 and graduating in architecture from the Milan Polytechnic in 1975, Citterio developed a career full of collaborations and awards. Between 1987 and 1996, in collaboration with Terry Dwan, he realised buildings in Europe and Japan, demonstrating his versatility and expertise in both architecture and design.

    In the field of industrial design, Antonio Citterio currently collaborates with numerous Italian and international companies, including an important partnership with Flexform. For this company, he has designed some of its most iconic pieces, such as the “Groundpiece” sofa, the undisputed best seller of the Flexform collection, which has in fact revolutionised the very concept of the sofa. Among his latest creations is the Loungescape sofa, presented at Milan Design Week 2025, which combines elegance, functionality and comfort with a refined and timeless style. His collaboration with Flexform has helped consolidate his reputation as one of the reference designers in the high-quality furniture sector.

    Antonio Citterio was awarded the Compasso d'Oro-ADI in 1987 and 1994, and in 2008 he was honoured by the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce in London with the title of ‘Royal Designer for Industry’.
