In the heart of Vienna, a penthouse furnished with Living Divani and Flexform
In the heart of Vienna, in a penthouse defined by striking geometries and sloping ceilings, Mobilificio Marchese has created a living space that stages a dialogue between contemporary architecture and iconic Italian design. Along one continuous perspective, Lorentz sofas with matching Lorentz coffee tables by Living Divani, Frog and Sumo armchairs – also by Living Divani – and the Happy chaise longue by Flexform define different scenarios within the same space.
Lorentz sofas and tables: the line of the space
The backbone of the project is the Lorentz seating system by Living Divani, designed by David Lopez Quincoces, used in a double configuration to create two conversation areas: a more intimate one at the entrance and a larger one at the far end of the penthouse. The recessed base and the suspended feel of the cushions emphasise the length of the room, while the full-height bespoke bookcase acts as a scenic backdrop.
The coordinated Lorentz tables, with their low wooden tops, work as a continuous platform between the sofas, hosting books and objects without interrupting the architectural reading of the large living room. A neutral palette – light fabrics, warm wood, white walls – allows proportions and light to define the character of the interior.
Frog and Sumo armchairs: two ways of relaxing
In the brightest part of the living area, facing the roof windows, the Frog armchairs by Living Divani, designed by Piero Lissoni, introduce an informal and airy idea of relaxation. Their essential frame and low seat make them perfect contemplative chairs, from which to take in the domestic landscape composed by sofas and tables.
Next to the Frog armchairs, the Sumo armchairs – again by Piero Lissoni – bring a more sculptural and enveloping presence, with generous volumes and armrests that invite a more classic, cocooning pause. Upholstered in dark leather, they create a refined contrast with the light sofas, visually linking the convivial heart of the living area to the more private corners dedicated to reading or listening to music.
Happy chaise longue: a private niche in the open space
Along the path that runs through the penthouse, in a deliberately more secluded zone, the Happy chaise longue by Flexform, designed by Antonio Citterio, finds its place. Positioned near the sloping walls, on a wide stretch of exposed wooden floor intentionally kept free, it becomes a genuine private niche for reading or resting, while still maintaining visual contact with the rest of the living space.
The slim frame and crafted detailing of the piece reinforce the guiding principle of the project: a strong architectural shell softened by furnishings that combine formal rigour and comfort, shaping in Vienna a domestic landscape that is elegant, measured, and profoundly contemporary.
